Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) Launches "See Something, Say Something" Initiative and New Services

see something, say something

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) is thrilled to announce the launch of the "See Something, Say Something" initiative, a community crowdsourced-driven reporting system that uses smart technology to encourage Lagosians to report vehicles involved in misconduct on Lagos roads using Nigeria’s first civic tech app, Whistle. The expected outcome of this initiative will be increased safety, reduced traffic and more civil behavior on Lagos roads.

The "See Something, Say Something" initiative relies on real-time visual reports sent by Lagosians regarding sightings of dangerous vehicles, accidents, traffic congestion, traffic violations, and expired vehicle documentation through Whistle App (available for download on Google Play Store). Where appropriate, LASTMA officials closest to each reported event will be prompted to respond to urgent situations.

As part of the "See Something, Say Something" initiative, LASTMA is also launching several new services to further enhance road safety and traffic management in Lagos:

  1. LASTMA’s Website: A comprehensive online platform providing real-time traffic updates, resources, and services to the public, ensuring greater accessibility and convenience for road users. Visit www.lastma.lagos.gov.ng for more information.
  2. 080000-LASTMA Toll-Free Line: An easy-to-remember toll-free number for immediate traffic-related assistance, facilitating swift responses to traffic incidents and emergencies.
  3. Physical Complaint Center: A dedicated centre for lodging complaints and resolving traffic-related issues, enhancing direct engagement with the public and improving service delivery.
  4. Upgraded Research and Statistics Department: Strengthening data collection and analysis capabilities to inform evidence-based traffic management solutions and policy decisions.

Download the Whistle App on Google Playstore to report your road experiences within Lagos. Visit paylasg.ng and search with your plate number to see if you have pending fines. You can also make payment online.
